We source from thoughtful growers who care deeply about their land, farm with organic, Biodynamic, or similarly low-impact practices, and aren't afraid to grow varieties a little outside the Willamette Valley norm. For us, great fruit doesn't need a lot of fuss—it needs healthy soils, careful farming, and growers who understand their sites.
Paper Plane Farm
Yamhill-carlton AVA
Our new home and the future estate vineyard for Ship of Fools. Established in 2026, Paper Plane Farm is nestled the hills of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Sitting at roughly 550 feet with a southwest exposure, the vineyard is rooted primarily in Willakenzie soils.
Originally planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, we're beginning a new chapter for the property by grafting much of the existing vineyard to varieties we're excited to explore. The site's warm exposure, elevation, and sedimentary soils give us an opportunity to experiment with grapes we believe can thrive here while maintaining a strong connection to the land.
Paper Plane Farm is a long-term project for our family: part vineyard, part experiment, and a chance to grow the fruit for future Ship of Fools wines ourselves
eola springs vineyard
EOLA-AMITY HILLS AVA
Eola Springs Vineyard sits on the western slopes of the Eola-Amity Hills, where cooling winds from the nearby Van Duzer Corridor help moderate temperatures and preserve freshness in the fruit.
The site brings together an unusual mix of volcanic basalt, marine sedimentary, and glacial soils, creating plenty of variation across the vineyard. Farmed sustainably and LIVE certified, Eola Springs is home to an eclectic mix of varieties beyond the region's traditional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
We source our Trousseau and Gamay here—two varieties we love for their energy, bright fruit, and ability to make expressive, lighter-bodied wines
Stag Hollow Vineyard
YAMHILL-CARLTON AVA
Stag Hollow Vineyard is a small, family-run vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, planted and cared for by Mark Huff and Jill Zarnowitz since 1990.
Set on south and southwest-facing slopes of Willakenzie soil, the vineyard is dry farmed and surrounded by woodland, streams, and preserved wildlife habitat. Mark and Jill have spent decades getting to know their land, farming with a focus on healthy soils and biodiversity while experimenting with varieties beyond the Willamette Valley standards.
They were among the first Oregon growers to plant Dolcetto and Tempranillo—two varieties we now source from the vineyard. Stag Hollow was the first vineyard we purchased fruit from, making our connection with Mark, Jill, and their farm an especially meaningful one.
Morning Mist vineyard
MCMINNVILLE AVA
Morning Mist Vineyard is a small, family-run vineyard tucked into the coastal foothills near Sheridan, on the western edge of the McMinnville AVA. Sitting between 600 and 700 feet in elevation, it is a cool, windswept site where fruit ripens slowly while holding onto its natural freshness and acidity.
The vineyard is dry farmed, no-till, and has been managed using organic practices for many years, with an emphasis on healthy soils and thoughtful farming. Alongside Pinot Noir, Morning Mist has embraced less common varieties.
We source Zweigelt here specifically for our Traditional Method sparkling wine, where the site's cool growing conditions and the variety's bright fruit and natural acidity make for a particularly exciting combination.
Johan vineyard
VAN DUZER CORRIDOR AVA
Johan Vineyards is a 175-acre Demeter-certified Biodynamic farm and vineyard in the Van Duzer Corridor AVA, with 87 acres planted to an unusually diverse collection of cool-climate varieties.
The site sits directly in the path of winds moving through the Coast Range, bringing a distinct maritime influence to the vineyard. Johan is farmed as a living ecosystem, using cover crops, composting, animals, and preserved native habitat to encourage healthy soils and biodiversity.
We were especially drawn to the vineyard's more adventurous plantings and source our Melon de Bourgogne and Grüner Veltliner here—two varieties that feel particularly well suited to Johan's cool, windswept site and thoughtful approach to farming.
